OCNZ newsletter: February 2019

Welcome 2019
I hope you are having an enjoyable summer and are ready for another year of orchids. The Taranaki Orchid Society held their summer show in January. The show was well attended by orchid growers and judges from around the country. Guest speaker Stephen Monkhouse had to cancel at the last minute so Taranaki local Allan Watson stepped in with an entertaining and informative talk about Miltoniopsis, giving us an overview of the breeding work the Miltoniopsis group has undertaken. Thank you Allan, great talk!

Allan is after photographs of the following Miltoniopsis which were bred by Ewan Perrott.
Mps. Aotearoa, (Mps. Zorro X Mps. Capitola)
Mps. Meryan Leigh, (Mps. Dumas Bay x Mps. Nancy Binks)
Mps. Sleeper, (Mps. Memoria Scottie Griffiths x Mps. Capitola)
Mps. The Universe (Mps. Harold Ripley x Mps. Demmie de Pas)
Mps. Whale Bay, (Mps. Pam’s Bay x Mps. Grouville)
If you can help please contact Allan on aj.watson@xtra.co.nz

In January a memorial service was held in New Plymouth for Clive Perry. This was organised by Joy Hopson to give the orchid fraternity the opportunity to honour and farewell their friend.
